Here in Spirit #7: Tim D

No pic but a fab full report of what Tim D is up to these days:

I live in Duluth, MN at the edge of Lake Superior. I've been married to my wife Katie for 22 years. We have a 14 year old son. Right now our lives are spent at Little League games. Not much better way to spend a summer evening. I am a research biologist and it is a great job, if you have to work for a living. I am a gov't contractor (not quite like Halliburton) working at an EPA lab. My love of biology was inspired by my time at Roaring Brook Nature Center hanging with Jay Kaplan. We love to canoe camp in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in northern MN. A job in the wilderness, as a Ranger, is what brought me to MN after college at UVM. I still love to go fishing and am packing for a trip as I write this. Or, I should say my wife is packing as I write this. Typical. We love to travel around the states and last year got to make our trip of a life time to Ireland to dig up some family history and drink Guinness.

I have great memories of fishing with Rusty in Cherry Brook and other places, playing pond hockey with Sean, Eric, Rusty, and the Gillingham Bros. Working at Stop & Shop with Jamie and Janice. Sky driving in the old VW, ask Rusty about that. Swimming in the community pool in the middle of the night after they were closed...full of algae, our brains weren't fully developed yet. My folks moved to upstate NY shortly after graduation so I rarely get back to CT. My sister, Clare (CHS '78), still lives in CT. Never got into the Facebook scene. If anyone wants to contact me, give a shout to my e-mail: dawson.tim@epa.gov. Yep, I use my work e-mail for everything. Gotta go, the family is getting stressed packing! Have a great time at the reunion!! I'll send some pics after our trip.

Tim

Here in Spirit #5 & #6: Dave H & Dawn

Unfortunately, past reunion organizers Dave H & Dawn won't be with us for the 35th.  They've gone golfing...

Here in Spirit #4: Debbie & Family

Debbie's update:  I've been living in California since 1988 and am currently living in Saratoga which is in the Bay area about 45 minutes south of San Francisco. We moved here 2 years ago after the kids finished high school. We're finally living 'in the country' again and have planted a 2 1/2 acre vineyard of Pinot Noir. Hopefully we'll see the fruits of our labors in 3 - 4 years. Frank and I just celebrated our 30th anniversary. Our daughter, Caelyn, recently graduated from USC, is actually amongst the employed and living in the Bay area. Our son, Cory, is half way through his college career and heading for teaching. Frank is still at Apple and still loves it. I gave up high tech when the kids were young and have focused my energies on non-profits and volunteering ever since. I also fill my days with Tae Kwon Do and yoga. We love to travel as a family, a real challenge as the kids get older. Life is beyond good!

Here in Spirit #3: Lee & Family

Lee with husband Chris & twins Maddi & Cody who just graduated from Granby High

Here in Spirit #2: Jeff R

A life update from Jeff:   My family and I are in the process of moving from Irvine, California to Athens, Ohio, where I will be joining the faculty in the School of Allied Health Sciences and Wellness of Ohio University to set up a dance medicine program. I received my PhD in dance medicine and science from the University of Wolverhampton (England) and have been at the University of California, Irvine since then. Now on to a new adventure in Ohio!
Another adventure is that my wife and I and one of my UCI students are traveling to London in August for the Olympics. We will be seeking out the sports medicine healthcare workers there to thank and encourage them for their hard work. This is a project of an international organization I lead, The Kardia Foundation, along with another international organization, Athletes in Action.
Hope you guys have a great time at the reunion!

Here in Spirit #1: Pam & Family

                                    Gorgeous Pam & Gorgeous Fam

Pam is at the beach this weekend with her entire family, a rare occasion when they are all together.  I think she promised to come to our 40th though.  ;-)

Sorry for the small size of the photo --- maybe Pam will see this and send along a larger version.  Every time I try to enlarge, I lose way too much resolution.

REUNION UPDATE - LESS THAN A WEEK UNTIL THE BIG DAY

THANKS to everyone who got their checks to Lynn by the 6/27 date we put out there to permit us to firm up the prepared food order.

As of today, 24 classmates have paid for 32 adults, totaling $850 in hand.   Another three people arranged payment with Liz.  Gold stars to us all.  ;-)  That means we know we can at least cover the cost of the tent/tables/chairs & the prepared food that Liz ordered.  Now, we're working on the $500 for the band plus incidentals (ingredients for salads & sides, paper products, condiments, soft drinks, ice, etc).  At this point, we're expecting 54 adults and 6 children for the meal and at least 10 more people to arrive after 7p.m.

IF YOU HAVE NOT YET PAID, PLEASE PLAN TO BRING CASH TO THE REUNION!  Or if you live near Canton, please feel free to drop off your payment at Liz's house some time this week (nothing like a little extra peace of mind for the reunion planners).

REMINDER of what else to bring to the reunion:  a dessert, your beverage of choice (this is a BYOB affair), memorabilia (photos & invitations from past reunions particularly welcome!!!), and pool garb if you plan to swim.

Big THANKS also to the 24 people who sent their regrets and confirmed that the contact info we have for you is correct. We are sorry you won't be able to join the fun this time around but it has been nice hearing from many of you via email.   PLEASE if you haven't gotten around to it, send along a recent photo of you and/or your family and a brief update on your life or any news you want to share.  A few of us are getting together on Friday and will compile some kind of 'there in spirit' collage.

I don't know what to say to those who haven't made a peep in response to our various updates so I think I'll stay in my usual lala land and assume you don't check the email account we're using for reunion communication.  But should you get this and want to jump on the bandwagon, it's definitely not too late to RSVP and attend!  7 others have remained on the fence and we're still silently pressuring them to do the right thing and come!  ;-)

LASTLY, please help get out the word to non-'77 alums who attended CHS when we did.  Please think about who still lives within an hour of Canton and let them know that we very much would love to see them after 7pm!   Even 10 additional people paying $15 will help ensure we have enough moolah to pay all the bills.  And the band will appreciate a larger crowd, I'm sure.

Looking forward to seeing many of you on Saturday,

Nancy
(on behalf of the 35th reunion planners)

Cherry Brook - Grade 5 Class Photo

Hey - look what Jaime Lindsay just sent me! She also sent along a pretty complete "who's who" list but let's see if anyone else can remember everyone. ;-)
